My heart hurts… And as I’m trying to remember in the midsts of pandemic and racism on steroids; and riots and death and pain, I am trying to remember how to celebrate; how to live; how to advocate. I remembered this old hymn and went in search of a version to fill my soul. This one felt right… with young vibrant voices and percussive slaps, claps and stomps. This is my prayer and my offering this night…
“How Can I Keep From Singing” - performed by the Academy Choir from Los Angeles.
My life flows on in endless song above earth's lamentation.
I hear the real, though far-off hymn that hails a new creation.
Through all the tumult and the strife, I hear it’s music ringing
It finds an echo in my soul. How can I keep from singing?
No storm can shake my inmost calm, while to that rock, I’m clinging
Since love is lord of heaven and earth, How can I keep from singing?
While though the tempest round me roars, I know the truth, it liveth.
And though the darkness round me close, songs in the night it giveth.
No storm can shake my inmost calm, while to that rock, I’m clinging
Since love is lord of heaven and earth, How can I keep from singing?
My life flows on in endless song; Above earth's lamentation,
I hear the real, though far-off hymn. That hails a new creation.
No storm can shake my inmost calm, while to that rock, I’m clinging
Since love is lord of heaven and earth, How can I keep from singing?
